Privacy NoticeThis site asks you for personal information in two places: the contact form on the Company page and the enquiry form on the Enquiries page. This notice says what happens to what you type there, and it describes our own practice.
When you use the contact form we collect what you type into it: your name, your organisation, your email address and your message.
The enquiry form asks for more, on purpose: your organisation and country, a contact name and email address, the kind of enquiry you are making (procurement, partnership and integration, industrial or commercial, media or general), the platforms you are interested in, and your message. We ask because enquiries about controlled goods have to be understood before we can discuss them, and because we may have to satisfy the Government of Canada that we know who we are dealing with. Answer only what you are able to; we treat what you write as your own statement and we do not verify it before we reply.
Nothing else on this site asks you for personal information. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell data, and we do not build profiles on visitors. Our web host may keep ordinary server logs — an address, a timestamp and the page requested — for security and reliability. The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google when a page loads; we do not receive anything from that request.
To answer your enquiry: to route it to the right desk, to understand what you buy, build, integrate or regulate, and to follow up with you.
For enquiries that touch controlled goods there is a second reason, and it is a legal one: export control. Canadian law restricts what may be supplied, to whom and where, and requires an exporter to know the end user and the end use before supplying. What you tell us about your organisation, your country and your interest is used for that assessment, and for nothing else. It is not used for marketing, it is not passed to anyone for their own purposes, and giving it does not commit you to anything, or us to supplying you.
Nobody. We do not sell, rent, trade or disclose your information to third parties for their own purposes. The only exceptions are the ordinary ones: the service providers who host this site and carry our email, who process it only on our instructions, and disclosure where the law requires it, such as a valid court order. If that ever changes, this notice changes first.
Enquiries about controlled goods carry one further exception, and you should know about it before you write: where an export permit, an advisory opinion or a determination is required, the information you give us about the end user and end use may be provided to the Government of Canada — to Global Affairs Canada and the authorities that administer export controls — as part of that application. That is a legal requirement, not a choice we make.
We keep enquiry records for as long as the enquiry is live, and for twenty-four months after our last contact with you, so we can pick a conversation up where it left off. After that we delete them. If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will.
Where an enquiry has been assessed for export control, we keep that assessment record for as long as Canadian export-control record-keeping requires, which is longer than twenty-four months. We cannot delete a record we are required to hold, and we will tell you so, and why.
Canadian Shield is based in Alberta, Canada. Your information may be stored or processed on servers operated by our hosting and email providers, which may be located outside Canada. Where that is the case, the information is subject to the laws of that country, including lawful access requests.
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and under equivalent laws in other markets we deal with, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy of it, correct anything that is wrong, delete it, or stop contacting you. Write to us and we will do it, normally within thirty days, at no charge. If you are not satisfied with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Sending us a message is your consent for us to use the information for the purposes above. You can withdraw that consent at any time by writing to us, and we will delete your record, subject only to the export-control retention described above.
Email [email protected] and put "Privacy" in the subject line. Privacy requests are answered by the accountable officer of Canadian Shield, a division of Sustainable Infrastructure Group (SIG). Write to that address for a postal address if you prefer to make a written request.
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the version and date at the top. This is version 1.0, dated 2026-09-07: the first privacy notice published for cdnshield.ca. It names the two places on this site where personal information is collected, and it states the export-control reason for asking what the enquiry form asks.
The product images on this site are design renders. The scenes and diagrams are illustrations of the doctrine, drawn by hand; each says so where it appears. None of them is a photograph of a flight, a field trial or a deployment, and none is a record of one. The interactive 3D films are illustrations in the same sense.
Every design shown is patent pending. Platform names, designations and specifications are subject to change without notice. Nothing on this site offers a platform that is available, fielded or in service, and no figure quoted here is a tested value unless the page says it is.
Defence platforms are export-controlled: international transfer is subject to Canadian government permits, issued per shipment, and our export posture is counsel-first. No page on this site states or implies that an export classification or clearance has been obtained.
Equipment makes named on this site — the machine tools in the shop, for example — are named only to describe what the division works with. Canadian Shield is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of them, and all trademarks remain the property of their owners.
